Meet Champ, Your In-App Helper
Champ is the small floating mascot in the corner of your dashboard. He’s DM Champ's built-in helper: click him any time to ask a question about the product, and he answers right there — no need to leave the page or open the help center.
Asking Champ a question
Click Champ (or his speech bubble) to open his chat panel, type your question, and he replies in a few seconds. Questions about your own account take longer, because he looks up your setup before answering instead of guessing; while he does, the typing bubble tells you what he’s doing. He knows the product well — how features work, where to find things, what something costs in credits — and he answers in whatever language you write to him, so feel free to ask in your own words and your own language.
Asking Champ is free. It never uses your AI credits.
A few things he’s good at:
- “Where do I…?” questions — he knows the whole left menu, including sections you’ve folded away, and tells you exactly where to click. Can’t find it? Say “take me there” and he opens the page for you, unfolding the sidebar section it lives in if it’s closed.
- “How does … work?” questions — AI agents, broadcasts, channels, credits, appointments, and everything in between.
- Quick tips — as you visit a section of the app for the first time, he may chip in with a short pointer about what the page is for. He only does this once per section, and he keeps it brief.
Asking Champ to do it for you
Champ doesn’t only explain where things are — he can make changes on your account for you. Instead of hunting for the right page, just tell him what you want done:
- “Pause my Sales agent” or “turn my agent back on”
- “Add an FAQ to my Support agent: we’re closed on Sundays”
- “Change my agent’s rules so it never quotes prices”
- “Tag this contact as VIP” or “delete the test contacts I added yesterday”
- “Move this appointment to Thursday at 3 pm”
- “Create a task to call John tomorrow”
- “How many contacts are on my Support agent?” or “move everyone still on the old agent to my new one”
He can create, edit and remove your AI agents (including their rules, instructions, bot settings, active hours and tags), FAQs and knowledge base websites, custom functions, contacts, tags and lists (smart lists included), appointments and booking event types, tasks, WhatsApp templates, webhooks and your chat widget settings. He can also decide which agent answers new contacts on each channel, count your contacts by agent, channel, tag or list, move one contact or a whole group of them to a different agent, and look up your analytics. Agencies can also ask him to manage sub-accounts, snapshots and pricing tiers. Adding or inviting team members is the one thing he’ll send you to Settings → Team for.
A few things to know:
- He checks before he changes anything. Unless your message already spelled out the exact change, Champ tells you in one sentence what he’s about to do and waits for your yes. Deleting anything, sending a message to a contact, or anything else that can’t be undone always gets a confirmation, even when you asked directly.
- He asks which one when it isn’t obvious. If you have several agents and say “pause my agent”, he’ll list them and ask.
- He tells you how to undo it. After a change he confirms what’s now true and how to reverse it.
- Some things stay hands-off. Champ never disconnects a channel, touches your API keys, billing or plan, or deletes a sub-account. For those he’ll point you to the right page or to our team.
- Only the account owner can ask for changes. Team members can still ask Champ questions, but changes go through the account owner.
Everything Champ does happens on your own account only, exactly as if you’d done it yourself in the app.
When Champ can’t help — getting a real person
Champ knows the product, but he doesn’t know everything, and some things need a human: a charge that looks wrong, something broken on your account, or an answer he simply doesn’t have.
When that happens he hands the conversation to our team, right in the same chat. He’ll tell you he’s passed it on, and someone picks it up from there. You don’t need to send an email or open a ticket — just keep the panel where it is.
You can also ask for it directly. Say something like “can I talk to a person?” and Champ will pass you on.
While a person is handling your question:
- Their replies appear in the same chat, labelled DM Champ team so you can tell them apart from Champ.
- Champ stops answering in that conversation, so you’re not getting bot replies over a real person’s.
- Anything else you send goes straight to the team, and they’ll reply here.
- If you’ve left the app by the time they answer, we email you their reply, so you don’t have to sit and watch the panel. Come back and open Champ and it’s waiting there too.
Your conversation is saved, so you can close the panel, change page, or come back tomorrow on another device and it’ll all still be there.
That conversation is yours alone. Each person on your team gets their own chat with Champ: a teammate working inside your account doesn’t see what you’ve asked him, and you don’t see theirs.
Champ in the Setup Wizard
When you go through the guided onboarding wizard, Champ comes along. He introduces himself when you arrive and explains each step as you reach it — what the step is for and what “good enough” looks like — so you always know why the wizard is asking what it’s asking.
In the wizard he also speaks his explanations out loud (in English — if your dashboard is set to another language, you’ll get his explanations as text instead). If you’d rather read than listen, click the speaker button at the top of his chat panel to mute the voice; your choice is remembered.
On a phone, Champ appears as a compact guide bar along the bottom of the wizard with the same step-by-step explanations. You can dismiss it with its X if you’d rather go without.
Moving Champ — or tucking him away
Champ is draggable — pick him up and drop him anywhere on the screen, and he’ll stay where you put him, on every page. If you’d rather not see him at all, fling him toward the small tab at the edge of the screen and he’ll tuck himself away into it. He stays hidden — across pages and reloads — until you click that tab to bring him back.
Where Champ appears
Champ is available on every account, with one exception: accounts that belong to an agency. If an agency set your account up for you, Champ doesn’t appear — your agency is your support contact and helps you directly.
If you’re an agency, Champ is there for you in your own account, including on your own white-labeled domain. He never appears inside a sub-account, though — not for your client, and not while you’re switched into their account helping them. That way your white-label experience stays entirely your brand, and what you see inside a client’s account is exactly what they see. When you need Champ yourself, switch back to your own account and he’s there.
