# Guided Onboarding

When you log in to DM Champ for the first time, a guided onboarding wizard walks you through everything you need to launch your first campaign. The wizard adapts to your business — it has up to 12 steps, but only shows the ones that are relevant to you. Most users will see 9 to 11 steps depending on their selections.

## How the Wizard Works

The onboarding wizard takes you through a series of screens, one at a time. A step indicator at the top shows your progress and how many steps remain.

* **Steps adapt to your choices.** Some steps only appear if they apply to your use case. For example, if you do not plan to book appointments, the booking-related steps are skipped automatically.
* **You can go back.** Use the back button to return to any previous step and change your answers.
* **Your progress is saved.** If you close the wizard and come back later, you pick up where you left off.

## The Onboarding Steps

### Industry Selection

Pick the industry that best describes your business. The available options are:

* High-Ticket Services
* Real Estate
* E-commerce
* SaaS Companies
* Social Media Brands
* Educational Institutions
* Agencies
* Other Industries

DM Champ uses your selection to tailor the AI bot instructions and suggested settings for your industry.

### Use Case Selection

Choose your primary use case. This tells DM Champ what you want your AI bot to focus on:

* **Database reactivation** — Re-engage past customers who have gone quiet.
* **Review automation** — Automate review collection and follow-up.
* **Lead follow-up** — Follow up with incoming leads automatically.
* **Customer support** — Answer common questions and resolve issues.
* **Comment to DM** — Automatically DM users who comment on your social media posts.

You can always expand to other use cases later, but picking one to start helps DM Champ set up the best configuration for you.

### Booking Options (conditional)

This step only appears if you selected a booking-related use case. Choose how you want to handle appointments:

* **No booking** — Skip booking setup entirely.
* **AI-powered booking** — The bot checks your real-time availability and books appointments automatically, without any manual work from your side.
* **External link** — Direct customers to an external booking page or link.

### Google Calendar (conditional)

This step only appears if you are setting up booking. Connect your Google Calendar so DM Champ can:

* See your existing appointments and avoid double-booking.
* Automatically add new bookings to your calendar.
* Keep everything in sync both ways - changes in Google Calendar are reflected in DM Champ, and vice versa.

### Availability Setup (conditional)

This step only appears if you are setting up booking. Set your business hours and availability windows so the bot knows when you are free:

* Choose which days of the week you are available.
* Set your start and end times for each day.
* Block out lunch breaks or other unavailable periods.

### Contact Import (conditional)

This step only appears if you selected the **database reactivation** use case. Bring in your existing contacts so you can start re-engaging them right away:

* **Import from CSV** - Upload a spreadsheet of contacts with names and phone numbers.
* **Add manually** - Type in contacts one at a time.

You can skip this step and add contacts later if you prefer.

### Website Analysis

Enter your website URL and let DM Champ do the heavy lifting. The AI reads your website and automatically:

* **Generates bot instructions** tailored to your business, products, and services.
* **Creates FAQ entries** based on the information found on your site.

This saves you a lot of time - instead of writing everything from scratch, you get a ready-made starting point that you can review and refine.

### Channel Setup

Connect at least one messaging channel so you can send and receive messages:

* **WhatsApp Web** - Scan a QR code to connect your WhatsApp number. This is the fastest option.
* **SMS** - Connect your Twilio number for text messaging.
* **Facebook and Instagram** - Link your business accounts to handle Messenger and Instagram DMs.

Pick the channel your customers use most. You can add more channels at any time from Settings.

### Campaign Builder

DM Champ creates your first campaign using everything you have set up so far. The campaign builder uses pre-filled templates based on your industry and use case selection, so the bot already has a solid starting point for talking to your customers.

Review the campaign name, bot instructions, and settings. The templated content is fully customizable - adjust anything you like, and you can always fine-tune these later.

### Follow-Up Configuration

Set up automated follow-up messages for contacts who do not reply. Follow-ups are one of the most effective ways to get responses:

* Choose how long to wait before sending a follow-up.
* Customize the follow-up message content.
* Set how many follow-ups to send before stopping.

### Campaign Preview

Review your full campaign setup before going live. This screen shows a summary of everything you have configured:

* Your campaign details and bot instructions.
* Connected channels.
* Follow-up settings.
* Booking configuration (if applicable).

Take a moment to look everything over. If something needs changing, use the back button to return to the relevant step.

### Success

You are all set. Your campaign is now live and ready to handle conversations. The wizard closes and you are taken to your dashboard, where you can monitor your messaging activity and results.

## Tips for a Smooth Onboarding

* **Have your website URL ready.** The website analysis step saves you the most time by auto-generating bot instructions and FAQs.
* **Start with one channel.** Pick the channel your customers use most. You can always add more later.
* **Review the AI-generated content.** The bot instructions and FAQs created from your website are a great starting point, but a quick review ensures everything matches your brand voice.
* **Do not overthink it.** You can change every setting after onboarding. The goal is to get up and running quickly, then refine as you go.

## After Onboarding

Once the wizard is complete, your campaign is live and your dashboard shows your messaging analytics. From here you can:

* Fine-tune your bot instructions and FAQs.
* Add more messaging channels.
* Create additional campaigns for different use cases.
* Invite team members to help manage conversations.
